  1. I was ecstatic when I learnt that all Mark Lanegan’s Sub Pop albums were going to be reissued individually. The One Way Street box set is just too dear for me and I already owned the 2014 US Has God Seen My Shadow? box set.

I must say that I am more than a tad disappointed with the SQ. I have heard really nice things about the One Way Street box set — especially the US RTI pressings, which were also mastered and cut by John Golden, just like the Has God Seen My Shadow? box set.

Compared the four tracks from Whiskey For The Holy Ghost — The River Rise, Carnival, Sunrise and Pendulum, while they all sounded excellent and quiet, they are far superior on the Has God Seen My Shadow? box set. Clearly better dynamics, more open and better micro details. This somewhat stopped my desire to get the US Sub Pop One Way Street box set. Not only this, I would put the 2012 EU Blues Funeral, 2015 UK/EU Houston (Publishing Demos 2002) and 2018 UK With Animals ahead of this in terms of SQ.

This is the most digital sounding record of Mark Lanegan’s in my collection, even the 2011 Bubblegum on Music On Vinyl has more warmth than this! I almost inclined to say I prefer the 2011 Bubblegum on Music On Vinyl to this if not because of its better dynamics.
