Apparently there’s a tweet that goes like this:
Here’s what he said :
“I was in touch with Miles on Twitter and he said that Thomas Felhman asked him to master it on analogue kit but Miles tried hard to steer him from this decision as the kit was nowhere near as good as the digital available at the time. Still, he insisted and the result wasn’t a patch on what could have been achieved. Miles washed his hands of it.”
So who did the lacquer cutting of this reissue then? Whoever it is, to my ear this 2017 U.F.Orb reissue sounded slightly better than the 2017 The Orb’s Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld reissue though. It has slightly better clarity overall and the bass is slightly punchier.
However, while I am happy to finally have The Orb’s Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld and U.F.Orb on vinyl, I am just slightly disappointed that both their SQ are not as impressive as the 2015 Moonbuilding 2703 AD.
