  1. Just like 2015 reissue of (), Sigur Rós’ second album Ágætis Byrjun is also sounding excellent. The pressing quality is hard to fault as it plays beautifully and quiet.

However, I really want to love this pressing but I prefer the SQ of the two previous releases from 2009 and 2013. I expected this to be absolutely top notch but the SQ of this is — what I suspect a recut by Optimal Media’s in-house engineer KR from the 2013 MK’s master — is just not as open and sounding slightly cold and sterile in comparisons with before mentioned two reissues.

The 2009 UK DMM FatCat Records Reissue and the 2013 EU [PIAS] Recordings Reissue both have better organic feel, tremendous depths and better details. Unfortunately I haven’t heard the first release and the 2001 reissues of Ágætis Byrjun so I can’t comment. Regardless, if you can’t find the 2009 and 2013 reissues, you would be very happy with the SQ of this 2015 reissue.
