  1. The SQ of this 2013 reissue of Sigur Rós’ ‎second album Ágætis Byrjun is superb. Comparing the three releases I have in hand, this reissue ranks below the 2009 UK FatCat Records DMM Remaster but far superior to the 2015 EU XL Recordings Reissue.

This reissue seems to be a recut by Optimal Media’s in-house engineer MK from Mandy Parnell’s original master. It makes sense after I read an article on Mandy Parnell and how she aimed to finding the emotion in mastering…

I can clearly hear the warmth and organic feel in this cut where as the 2015 EU XL Recordings Reissue just sound slightly cold and sterile in comparisons. However, the 2015 EU XL Recordings Reissue does sounds a lot quieter than this pressing.
